Our History

Our school has a long and proud history. The Castleisland Boys National School was first opened in 1875. The school was located on the Limerick Road close to the entrance to St John’s Park. It was a small 3 teacher school that was operational for nearly 60 years.

In 1931 the school relocated to the old hospital building on College Road which is the current home of St Patrick’s secondary school. It was home to The Boys National School for 30 years until permission for a new school building was granted.

In 1961 the new school was opened on College Road and received a new name, Scoil Naomh Chárthaigh. We are very proud of our school and are continuously renovating and updating our facilities.
