ICT (Information and Communications Technology)

ICT (Information and Communications Technology) plays a huge role in our daily lives, Scoil Naomh Chárthaigh encourages children to learn about safe use of ICT. We have a shared set of Chromebooks which all classes use for project work, typing and coding.

Every year we participate in Internet Safety Week and organise Internet Safety talks for children and their families. We encourage all parents to monitor their children’s screen time, including use of the internet and social media sites. Information and advice can be found on https://www.webwise.ie/parents/

Each classroom is equipped with 3 computers which the children can access to help them with research, projects, coding, typing, games etc. The children also have access to a shared set of chrome books which they can also use for any of the above assignments.

Scratch Coding

Scratch is a coding programme for young children. It uses a coding language with simple visual steps that allows children to create digital stories, games, and animations. Scratch promotes computational thinking, problem solving skills, creative learning and teamwork.
